Recital with Friends Series — The Stars

We proudly presents an extraordinary afternoon of chamber music featuring five remarkable musicians from across Australia.

On 5 July 2026 at 2:00 pm, Wesley Music Centre in Canberra will come alive with a diverse programme brought together by clarinettist Elsie Chen and her distinguished friends. A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and former Principal Clarinet of the Australian Wind Symphony, Elsie has long been celebrated for her warm, expressive tone and her passion for collaborative music-making. This concert is a testament to the deep musical friendships she has forged throughout her career.

Joining Elsie on stage is Frank Celata, Associate Principal Clarinet of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and a renowned international soloist. A seasoned performer who has appeared as guest with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Philharmonia Orchestra of London, Frank brings decades of artistry and experience honed on the world's finest stages.

From Los Angeles, Dr. Rebecca Rivera makes a special guest appearance. A sought-after bassoonist who performs with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the Pasadena Symphony and Pops Orchestras, Rebecca's artistry spans concert halls, recording studios, and film scoring sessions. Her presence adds a truly international dimension to this Canberra event.

Canberra's own Lucus Allerton takes his place at the piano. A First Class Honours graduate in Piano from the ANU School of Music and a beloved figure in Canberra's musical community, Lucus is known for his versatility as an accompanist, conductor, and captivating storyteller of music.

Completing this stellar ensemble is Shilong Ye, a conductor and violist whose deep roots in Canberra's music scene span over two decades. Currently Music Director of Australian Rugby Choir, and chief conductor of the Brindabella Orchestra, Shilong's musicianship and dedication to the community have shaped generations of young musicians.
